Positive Energy Art Studio (PEAS)

The Positive Energy Art Studio provides a nurturing place for artists of all ages and abilities to grow.  We provide a creative environment that is stimulating, challenging, and safe.

Artists are free to explore new possibilities, take risks, share ideas, and create art together!

At PEAS, we emphasize technique, exploration, experimentation, and taking creative risks.

We strongly believe that the process of creating is as important as the final product!

Nannette Horan -

Nannette has been an art educator for over 40+ years! She has experience teaching all ages and a variety of populations in New York, California, and Maryland. She is a newly retired Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) art educator. Nannette taught art at Rachel Carson ES (in the Kentlands neighborhood for 24 years). Her last three years were full-time at Damascus ES. Her part-time schools include Great Seneca Creek ES, Lake Seneca ES, and Clopper Mill ES.

Throughout her 40+ years of experience, Nannette has worked with various age groups and populations. Her background includes teaching subjects such as Emergent Multilingual Learners (previously termed ESOL), reading, life skills, physical science, technology education, and students with learning differences. She is versatile in working with students from diverse backgrounds and learning abilities.

Given her role as an art educator and her experience teaching young learners, Nannette has a deep understanding of engaging artists in creative activities and fostering their skills and imagination. Her passion for her job and love for art makes her a charismatic and inspiring teacher for artists of all ages.

In her spare time, Nannette hauls materials between studios and dreams up the next PEAS workshop. She also creates her own artwork, rides her bike, and plays with the studio pups, Lola Crayola and Baby Girl (aka BB, BIBI, BEE, GIGI).

Nannette's favorite mantra is, 'I LOVE my job!’.

Nannette pursued her education at Buffalo State College, earning a Bachelor's in Art Education. She also completed a minor in Art Therapy and concentrated in Ceramics during her studies.
